Password, keyword… that thing so bothering and useful that fulfills our heads with alphanumerical combinations that is so hard to remember when coming back from holidays. How much I would like to find a universal password for human communication. One which says at the same time, don’t mistrust me, but don’t underestimate me; I love you, but that doesn’t mean that I forget about loving myself; or I’ll be generous, but keeping a healthy level of selfishness.
How much I’d like to find a helpful password to reach our teenagers’ minds, so easily confounded by this complex society. How difficult it’s getting the right word… because languages, you can learn them, but the really complicated thing is simultaneous translation in the same language… especially if you’re a mother.
Sometimes words get entangled, and depending on who’s talking they get even more into a mess. Responsibility, this long word that sounds so tough, and it’s nothing but the “ability” to properly “respond” to a stimulus.
Trapped between a generation that didn’t have any rights, which wanted to grow up and reach them, and another one that’s got them all, sometimes to the detriment of the adults, education which curiously rhymes with manipulation, is not that easy. Because you can’t change people if they don’t want to.
In that modern society where apparently learning doesn’t come with bleeding, but where too often weapons get into the schools, how important seems to me to find out this hypothetical keyword.
A bloodless arm, able to open a whole world to the consciousness willing to press this key. To the ones that don’t want to go on sleeping the induced comma of “everybody goes, so I’m going”, generally to do well a few people at other’s expense and even health. Of course, always involving, a very good marketing plan.
In a world where telecommunications companies are taking advantage, as much as they can, because everybody wants to be connected, feel like a part of something bigger. I wonder if we are anything but a delicate balance of energies, and finding out who we are, where we come from, and especially where are we going, takes some time.
I think that maybe our whole lives are a path of self discovering. And it’s vital waking up every morning with a lucid head, eyes wide open, seeking for our best treasure, our own apprenticeship, our own life. Only through self-knowledge and self-esteem it’s possible some others’ knowledge and esteem. So discovering and safeguarding the boundaries of our differences and resemblances, is which help us to keep balance.
It seems to me that there’s a keyword, a password that can connect us with everybody. But it’s a two ways road, a path that can’t be walked on our own. In this embrace if one fails, the other loosen and inevitably falls, no matter if they don’t want to.
So if you’re lucky to meet the right people in your way, the ones you can learn from and teach to, you will realize that this password actually exists, and the word is RESPECT.
IF YOU END UP BY KNOWING, RESPECTING AND LOVING YOURSELF… YOU’RE LUCKY.
IF YOU’RE ABLE HELPING SOMEBODY ELSE TO DO SO… THEN YOUR LIFE IS A COMPLETE SUCCESS
